DJ Mr. King, Tha Takeover Productions & Ren1010 Sports to host 2nd Annual “Strikes For Hunger” Charity Bowling Outing to provide assistance to Shelter Care and Safe Landing during the holiday season.

AKRON, Ohio – November 1, 2009 – Akron-native and nationally-known DJ, DJ Mr. King (Steve King) and Tha Takeover Productions along with Ren1010 Sports will host the 2nd Annual “Strikes For Hunger” Charity Bowling Outing Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at AMF Riviera Lanes located at 20 South Miller Road in Akron, Ohio from 5 pm until 1 am

Last year, through the "Strikes for Hunger" campaign, Tha Takeover Productions raised more than $1,000 in food and donations for ACCESS Inc. Battered Women's Shelter in Akron.

This year, Shelter Care and Safe Landing Shelter will benefit from the funds raised at the bowling event. Shelter Care Executive Director Wes Fair said donations during the holiday seasons are always useful to the children and families of their organization.

“This is the time of year when Shelter Care and Safe Landing really depends on and appreciates the outpouring of charity from our community,” said Fair. “Donations of food, clothing, and other resources go a long way in restoring hope and faith in the power to overcome the many obstacles faced by the youth and families we serve”

The event, which will also feature a live DJ as well as billiards and other games, will be a two-part outing with children ages 5-18 bowling in the first session from 5-8pm. The second session will be held for adults 21 and older and will begin at 9pm. Admission for the children session is $10 ($8 with a donation of five canned goods or non-perishable items). Admission for the adult session is $20 ($15 with a donation of five canned goods or non perishable items). All admission includes unlimited bowling and shoe rental for the entire session.

UHHH...SERVICE PLEASE???

I guess you could say that I had an eventful weekend as I did a little traveling...I hopped on a plane and made my way to my fellow partner DJ Mr King BDay Bash that we (Tha Takeover) threw...The party was a blast and a huge success, but the airplane ride there and back left a little to desire

I know they say beggars can't be choosy, but what the hell is going on with airlines these days...not only were my flights delayed, my boarding pass was missed handled by the very "highly trained staff", I was charged for checking my bag in which I didn't check and then wasn't refunded the charge, and to cap off the weekend I was hit on by the 50 year old flight attendant the entire flight back!!!!

There was a time when airline travel was a special treat, the kind of occasion that inspired passengers to dress up.

Now, the awe people once felt about flying through the clouds is tempered by additional fees, cramped seats and horrifying tales of fellow travelers -- such as the one about a man dubbed "Mr. Poopy Pants."

"We've all had our flying hell experiences," said Gregg Rottler, creator of FlightsFromHell.com.
The site provides a venue for people to share their tales of woe, said Rottler. "It's therapeutic ... so it benefits them and provides entertainment value for others."

Rottler, a 54-year-old environmental health supervisor in Tampa, Florida, launched the site more than two years ago. Since then, FlightsFromHell.com has attracted submissions from passengers and flight attendants that have run the gamut, touching on categories that include "odors," "attendant issues," "weird people," and "luggage and delays."

Among the story headlines: "Titanic toddler creates tumult," "Wifey punched by elderly 'sleepwalker,' " and "Lip-locked tousle-haired 20-somethings."

"There's something about being scrunched up with strangers ... The seats aren't that big, and once someone starts going wacko, it just creates an extremely stressful environment that was already stressful enough," Rottler said.

TripAdvisor, the world's largest online travel community, recently released survey results from more than 1,500 U.S. respondents asked to discuss what about flying bugs them most.

The purpose was to "allow travelers to air their grievances," TripAdvisor spokesman Brooke Ferencsik said. Sure enough, he continued, "83 percent of respondents said air travelers have gotten ruder over the past 10 years" and the most annoying travelers, earning 59percent of votes, were "oblivious parents."

Flyers griped about fellow passengers snoring, vomiting and having "excessive flatulence."

But it wasn't just crying babies, heavy perfume and strangers dozing off and drooling on their shoulders that people complained about.

Add-on fees were also a concern. These charges often hit when booking tickets, making particular seat selections and checking bags. Bringing a pet on board or getting food, blankets and pillows can also add fees. But 54 percent agreed on this: No airline fee is more annoying than the one to check luggage.

The trend of ratcheting up fees began in late spring of 2008, explained Anne Banas, executive editor of SmarterTravel.com, an online consumer travel publication.
"Everyday it seemed a new fee came out," she said. "The consumer sees it as nickel and diming."

While some add-on charges have fallen by the wayside, such as U.S. Airways ill-fated decision to charge $2 for water, juice and soda, Banas believes other more universally instituted fees that are of great help to struggling airlines, including the ones for checked bags, are likely here to stay.

"Baggage fees get people the most upset because it's the one that's hardest to avoid," she said. "People get upset when there was a status quo and something gets taken away."

To help frustrated travelers, who become even more aggravated because the fees vary by airline, SmarterTravel created a guide to airline fees.

TripAdvisor, which collaborates with SmarterTravel (both are owned by Expedia), also instituted a fees estimator, which allows people to figure out what flights will really cost, removing the element of surprise.

When the company set out to do its survey, Ferencsik said, "We were curious to find out how much people were frustrated," by fees, such as the one for checked baggage. "Does it surprise them? And what are they doing to avoid it?"

The fact that 19 percent of respondents said they don't check bags anymore, and 39 percent said they try their best to avoid it, was proof that they're "modifying the way they travel."

But while they'll bend to deal with change, there are some talked-about fees that may be deal-breakers. Seventy-five percent of those surveyed said they'd draw the line if they were ever charged by an airline to use toilets.

Does that mean "Mr. Poopy Pants" will have company?

"I hope they would just choose a different airline," Ferencsik said

MADOFF 150 YEAR BID!!!!

Bernard Madoff is set to plead guilty on 11 counts which include money laundering, fraud, and whole list of other counts. If you are not familiar with Madoff he was a shady founder of a Wall Street trading firm that was taking money from intended for investments, and using it to gain profit for other parties. Madoff was caught and could be facing up to 150 years in prison!!!!

What Madoff did was completely wrong and hope he gets a long sentence...The funny thing would be him getting the 150 years and miraculously serving his entire sentence!!! Highly unlikely the old fart would is 70 and that would put him over the 2 century mark when he got out.

Let this case be a lesson to all you SHADY promoters, execs, managers, A&R's etc. don't do dirty business the law will find you...if someone else hasn't gotten to you before they do!!!

THE VERDICT IS IN...RIHANNA'S FACE AFTER FIGHT

There was a false Photoshop picture going around last week where Rihanna's injuries had been colored in to create a buzz, well I'm here to tell you that this ain't no Photoshop!!!

The above photo has been illegally leaked from the LAPD office in which Domestic Violence cases evidence is supposed to be sealed. According to inside sources there will definitely be an investigation on how the info was released, which could result in a firing!!! The only thing that bothers me is the person who leaked this pic probably got a nice size check, that will outweigh his or her LAPD salary if they are ever caught.

CELL PHONE FACE OFF??

New studies have shown that there is a link to excessive cell phone use and a skin rash that develops on the cheek and ear known as "mobile phone dermatitis". Apparently the nickel surface on mobile phones can irritate the skin causing an ugly rash...

I guess you could counter act this by getting unlimited text messages but then there is that thing out there called arthritis (pronounced -aw the right is- by old folk)...So the next time you see a pretty face with a red rash on their cheek and ear offer to buy them a calling card

LONDON - Doctors baffled by an unexplained rash on people’s ears or cheeks should be on alert for a skin allergy caused by too much mobile phone use, the British Association of Dermatologists said on Thursday.Citing published studies, the group said a red or itchy rash, known as“mobile phone dermatitis,” affects people who develop an allergic reaction to the nickel surface on mobile phones after spending long periods of time on the devices.

“It is worth doctors bearing this condition in mind if they see a patient with a rash on the cheek or ear that cannot otherwise be explained,”it said.The British group said many doctors were unaware mobile phones could cause the condition.

Safety concerns over mobile phones have grown as more people rely on them for everyday communication, although the evidence to date has given the technology a clean bill of health when it comes to serious conditions like brain cancer.

“In mobile phone dermatitis, the rash would typically occur on the cheek
or ear, depending on where the metal part of the phone comes into contact with
the skin,” the group said in a statement.

“In theory it could even occur on the fingers if you spend a lot of time texting on metal menu buttons.”

Nickel is a metal found in products, ranging from mobile phones to jewelry to belt buckles and is one of the most common causes of allergic contact dermatitis, according to the Mayo Clinic in the United States.

Earlier this year Lionel Bercovitch of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and colleagues tested 22 popular handsets from eight different manufacturers and
found nickel in 10 of the devices. source

HISTORY...PAUSE!!!!!

It's seems after we have went through 'Historic' times with a recession and one of (if not the worse) Presidencies ever, that we are amongst History once again...

As I sat in the break room at work I took my usual break time in which all of 'US' gather to eat. While I enjoyed lunch (Chicken Tortilla Soup) 'OUR' lunch gathering became extremely enjoyable as we watched CNN and the top stories showed positive African American images...There was the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. coverage which was very inspirational and positive, and the coverage from Washington that showed Obama and his preparation for the record breaking Inauguration that will take place on tomorrow...

It was almost an out of body experience as the conversation was very lively and the mood amongst 'US' was a step above normal. As I engaged in the conversation and the enjoyable atmosphere I began to wonder how long will this last...

With the constant negative images we see of African Americans portrayed on T.V. that go from the daily news to the obnoxious reality shows that we tune in to watch, has the election of Obama brought about the type of CHANGE that 'WE' as a people need...The change from within that has caused what is known as the 'Social Separation'...??

I'm not sure but I honestly feel that subconsciously the images that the Obama's (and many other positive African Americans) provide, will fuel the change that allows African Americans to remove the wall that has kept 'US' from believing

So as we live through these days and critique every bit of media coverage and memorabilia lets be sure to remember that this is History and that we should enjoy how far things have come and how far 'WE' still have to go...

PLANE CRASH: HUDSON RIVER

Today a plane crashed into the Hudson River up in New York...Oh well it's just another crash!!! Not to me!!!

I have an Aunt that is a flight attendant for US Airways as the plane that took a plunge into the river is with the same company...The initial breaking news made my heart drop as I was later re-assured as my Grand called to let our family know that she heard from my aunt who was safe in Minnesota...

Just a reminder that life is short and can be cut shorter so make sure that you right all of your wrongs with people....I know have a lot relationship that I need to repair with folks but make sure you cherish you close friends and family as you never know what can happen...I'm glad my aunt is safe but just think about the people's who's aunts were on that flight!!!

A US Airways pilot ditched his disabled jetliner into the frigid Hudson River on Thursday afternoon after a collision with a flock of birds apparently knocked out both engines, but officials said rescuers pulled all 155 people on board into boats as the plane sank. There were no immediate reports of any serious injuries.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an experienced pilot, said it appeared the pilot did "a masterful job of landing the plane in the river and then making sure everybody got out." And Gov. David Patterson pronounced it "a miracle on the Hudson."

Flight 1549 went down minutes after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport for Charlotte, N.C., splashing into the river near 48th Street in midtown Manhattan.

"There were eyewitness reports the plane may have flown into a flock of birds," said Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Laura Brown. "Right now we don't have any indication this was anything other than an accident."

Passenger Jeff Kolodjay of Norwalk, Conn., said he heard an explosion two or three minutes into the flight, looked out the left side of the Airbus A320 and saw one of the engines on fire.

"The captain said, `Brace for impact because we're going down,'" Kolodjay said. He said passengers put their heads in their laps and started praying. He said the plane hit the water pretty hard, but he was fine.
"It was intense. It was intense. You've got to give it to the pilot. He made a hell of a landing," Kolodjay said.
The plane was submerged in the icy waters up to the windows when rescuers in police and Coast Guard vessels and ferry boats arrived, opened the door and pulled passengers in yellow life vests from the aircraft, whose fuselage appeared intact. The plane was sinking in the near-freezing water on one of the coldest days of the year, with the mercury around 20 degrees.

Police divers rescued a few people from the water, Bloomberg said. Other passengers were able to walk out onto the wings, then onto rescue boats.

Paramedics treated at least 78 patients, fire officials said. The Coast Guard said it rescued 35 people who were immersed in the cold water and ferried them to shore. Most were sent to hospitals. No information was released on their condition.

Witnesses said the pilot appeared to guide the plane down.

"I see a commercial airliner coming down, looking like it's landing right in the water," said Bob Read, who saw it from his office at the television newsmagazine "Inside Edition." "This looked like a controlled descent."
Barbara Sambriski, a researcher at The Associated Press, saw the plane go down from the news organization's high-rise office. "I just thought, 'Why is it so low?' And, splash, it hit the water," she said.

The pilot reported a "double bird strike" less than a minute after taking off, said Doug Church, a spokesman for the National Air Traffic Controllers Union. The controller sent the aircraft back toward LaGuardia, but the pilot saw an airport below him and asked what it was, Church said. It was Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, and the pilot asked to land there, Church said.

The instruction to land at Teterboro was the last communication with the plane before it went into the river, Church said.

US Airways said 150 passengers, three flight attendants and two pilots were on board the jetliner.
"This is really a potential tragedy that may have become one of the most spectacular days in the history of New York City's agencies, its coordination and the greatness of the people that work here and all they did for those passengers who are now tonight going to go home to their families," the governor said.

Joe Mazzone, a retired Delta Air Lines pilot, said it is not unusual for birds to strike planes. In fact, he said, when planes get ready to take off, if there are birds in the area, the tower will alert the crew.
In the rare cases in which birds get sucked into an engine, "they literally just choke out the engine and it quits," Mazzone said.

Twenty-seven years ago this week, an Air Florida plane bound for Tampa crashed into the Potomac River after hitting a bridge just after takeoff from Washington National Airport. The crash on Jan. 13, 1982, killed 78 people including four people in their cars on the bridge. Five people on the plane survived.

On Dec. 20, a Continental Airlines plane veered off a runway and slid into a snowy field at the Denver airport, injuring 38 people. That was the first major crash of a commercial airliner in the United States since Aug. 27, 2006, when 49 people were killed after a Comair jetliner mistakenly took off from the wrong runway in Lexington, Ky.
